Consultation Services Overview

The path of self-publishing presents both excitement and complexity. While it ensures creative freedom, it demands strategic navigation and a good guide who knows the business. At Queensland Self Publishing, this is where we excel in providing assistance, helping bridge the gap between manuscript and reader. In today's every changing and rapidly evolving dynamic publishing landscape, the expertise of an experienced consultant is invaluable. We offer not only decades of publishing process knowledge, but also firsthand experience navigating its challenges. Our expertise encompasses all aspects of self-publishing.

There are many questions and anxieties first time authors have when taking on the challenge of publishing their first book. At Queensland Self Publishing, we aspire to give new authors total peace of mind throughout the publishing process. We can give advice on whether your book is a good fit for submission to the major publishers, or if you should go the self-publishing route (POD). POD is short for Print on Demand and allows you to print the number of books you want at your leisure. Self-publishing consultation appointments are held with critically acclaimed author Scott Rauvers, whose 75+ books  span more than a decade of self-publishing expertise and whose most recent book Documented Techniques for Writing Non-Fiction and Proposal Ideas that get you published, has been rated as one of the best books on self-publishing ever written. Consultation sessions include a variety of options.  They can be done via phone, Skype, Teams, Zoom or Google Meet. If you live in close proximity to the Sunshine Coast, in-person consultations are available at our home office, and require an extra $350 fee to cover our time and resources. Print on Demand consultation sessions are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

At Queensland Self Publishing Service, we can also advise you on the best trim sizes, cover finish (i.e. matte or gloss celloglaze/laminate), binding style and paper stock when publishing your book. We are experts in the art of conveying the pros and cons of B/W versus full-colour printing or hard-cover vs paperback books. We are also able to give guidance on how many printed books to order for your first print run.

Feeling overwhelmed by the numerous decisions required for self-publishing your book is common for first-time authors. You may have the following questions arise when searching for answers …

Should I have my book manuscript reviewed by an editor, and what distinguishes editing from proofreading?

What is the most suitable trim size for my printed book?

Which Print on Demand Company is best suited for my book?

Should I use only a POD Publisher in my own country?

When should I use a Free ISBN>

What book administration procedures (including ISBNs, legal deposits, etc.) should I adhere to as a self-publishing author?

Which formats (e.g., locally printed books, offset printing, Print on Demand, ebook, or Audiobook) are the optimal choices for distributing my self-published book to readers?

What is the ideal internal paper stock or cover laminate finish for my printed book?

How can I design a cover that has the potential to elevate my book to bestseller status?

What are the necessary publication steps to make my book accessible exclusively to family and friends?

How does this process vary if I plan to self-publish my book and/or e-book through Amazon KDP, Draft2Digital or IngramSpark?
